It was started to give Georgia Southern sports fans a place to play.  You could imagine this as a “fan field of play” of sorts.   It’s an independent and level playing field not endorsed by the University.  

We debated for quite a while on what to call this site.  EagleSports.com was on the table but it just didn’t seem big enough.  We wanted this to be a fan site.  

So we ran an online poll on our mother site, statesboroherald.com, to let fans decide between the two names.  The voting was about even for several days, but Eagle Nation eventually won out.  However, just to be on the safe side, we made sure you’d get to Eagle Nation no matter which one you type in the search engine.   Heck, we even reserved GeorgiaSouthernFanSite.com just to make double sure our purpose was clear.

We want to make Eagle Nation easy for you.  We want it all and we want it now.  We’ll do our best to post the latest and best items about our favorite team we can find 24/7.  We’ll scan the media to give you the best links out there to anything and everything GSU.

Sure, we’ll have news bits on the athletes including great video shows like the Eagle’s Nest, tailgate show and game highlight clips.  But the real success of this site will depend on Eagle fans. We can’t load everything you need on this site by ourselves.  We need your help to get it done so share your Eagle fan stuff with the rest of us, okay?

That’s what we mean by a place for fans to play.  We need a team of fans to make it work.  If we can create an Eagle Sports Community that sticks together and works together, we can make it happen.

If it’s about anything or anyone connected with Eagle Nation, let’s get it on this site.  Help spread the word.  We want lots of folks to link to us.  Let us know if we need to link to them.  We want new stuff, old stuff, whatever.  If it’s your stuff about the Eagles AND Eagle fans, past or present doesn’t matter, just post it here.  Use us as your go-to place to find out what’s really happening!  We’ve tried to make that easy for you to do.

We want you to use this site as a place to have straightforward discussion about whatever fans feel is important about Eagle Sports.  We’ll have live chat rooms online from time to time with a referee of course.  Real Eagle fans are used to winning but don’t believe in burying their heads in the sand if everything’s not perfect.  So use this site to talk about and others will listen and join in. 

You’ll see some national ads on this site.  However, we’ll give Eagle Fan businesses priority in placing advertisements on this site.  Why?  Because we feel they’ve earned it.  Without them, we’d have no place to play.  We’re big fans of theirs. Tell them you saw them on Eagle Nation.

Finally, you won’t find too many rules and regulations to participate on Eagle Nation so let’s keep it that way, okay?  We hate making many rules.
