I posted a blog 2 weeks ago saying that Chris Hatcher wasn't getting the job done.  The response was about 50/50 then.  From what I'm reading on this site and others, I'd say it's moved to about 80/20 now.  I think even those who were holding out a tiny sliver of hope that Hatcher was the answer has come to the realization that he was a mistake by Sam Baker.  While there are those who are still forgiving and think Hatcher should be given another year, most now agree he needs to be fired after this season.

I love GSU.  There is no arguing that.  This isn't about me knocking the team or anything else, but what it is about is telling the truth.  First, Hatcher never should have been hired.  He was a kneejerk hire after the VanGorder fiasco and Baker had the GSU faithful believing in the move.  Hatcher brought his Division II staff up to GSU along with a AAA high school coach.  Think about that now.  Most if not all of our coaches came from a lower level than the FCS.  Since coming to GSU, Hatcher has not only not produced like thought he would, he hasn't even brought in decent signings on signing day.  People once said about GSU, "they don't rebuild, they reload."  That was completely because GSU seemed to always make the most of their signings.  This has created a terrible situation for GSU.  Hatcher has set GSU back at least another 2-3 years from having bad classes.  Even if we do get another head coach, he's stuck with a tiny RB who could never work in a pro style offense, we have a very below average QB and our defense is just plain pathetic.  Now, I will say some of our problems on defense could be fixed scheme wise.  We do have a few players on that side of the ball.  Offensively, it's just not a good situation.  Some want the triple option back...who is the QB?  We don't have a triple option QB.  The spread obviously isn't working with this personnel...want the pro style?  Not only do we not have the QB, we don't have an adequate sized RB nor do we have a TE who can BOTH receive and block well.  We just don't have the personnel...and for that reason, don't look for GSU to be good anytime soon.

If you want to see GSU good again in the future, you better start praying Hatcher is gone before this coming signing day.  Another bad class means another year set behind.  Think any good high school athlete wants to come to GSU right now over say....APP ST?  Very frustrated right now.

My son was done wrong by Hatcher at VSU a few years back so I am not surprised at all with the disgruntled posts about him & his super staff. I saw him and his staff do a lot of young men wrong the short time we were there so what goes around comes around.

gsueagle2424- I'm not "bashing" the players. However, I do not think the players at least on offense, are FCS material. That's the truth...if you think that's bashing, so be it. This isn't high school football. They aren't being paid in cash, but most are paid with scholarships so they warrant criticism when they don't perform..just like players at the FBS receive criticism when they don't perform.

However, this is more about Hatcher than anything else. He is not a good coach. What more proof does anyone need. If he's not gone soon, this team wont be good for a LONG LONG time.

smallwood, I know of one really bad hire and at this point a questionable hire. Who is the third? If it's the guy that won 2 SoCon titles in 2 years and took us to the playoffs 3 of 4 years he was here, I'd sure like to have him back.

Back in the good ole days, our recruiting classes were heavy with QBs that we seemed to convert to other positions. Erk believed, and Johnson followed, that the high school QB is usually the best athlete on the field and only a few of them are D1 material at QB. If we still followed that recruiting philosophy then going back to the option skill position wise would not be that hard as we’d be athlete loaded. However, the o-line would take a class of two to get right. I am willing to bet a good coach like Johnson could come in and start winning again in two years. Good coaches use what they got and build the rest. We are just short a good coach.

It is one thing to bash the coach, but don't bash the players jackass.

Wes, You are dead on about our coaching staff and recruiting. I am puzzed as to why can't Hatcher fiqure it out. He must be so stuborn he believes he will turn it around. Maybe young and dumb.

His got to go. I believe hatcher cannot stand his recruits playing behind another coaches kid,

Dear True blue > GSU has had a ton of atrition of players since Hatcher was hired. This year we had no receivers that had played. # of his freshman receivers quit last year after play as a true freshman. Ibet Valdosta HS would not hire Hatcher altough I would love to give him a chance to find out.

Wes you are not far from the fact that he is not putting us in a postion to win. It was a hard day on saturday. AppSt. second string was all over our starters. I just want to know what Chris is thinking. We surly do not have any attrition and as long as he tries to run the high school cersion of the spread I think that he is going to find it very hard to keep the kids that he has signed. There is no scheming or game preperation. It almost appears to be that he is going to run the same thing game in and game out no matter what. All he does is just give the other team something to prepare for. I am still high on our defense. you cannot expect much when the offense is 3 and out every time. Something has to be done. I am also disapointed by the way we do tailgating. there are to many holes. People buying passes and not showing up. I think they need to let people come in until it is full. Allow us to tailgate all around. I think that would generate more buzz with the current student body
