Georgia Southern really needs to follow the Charlton Young hire with another Georgia Tech assistant coach hire, this one being Giff Smith as the next head football coach. The University took the formula for success and discarded it, now bring it back! Look at what Tech has done in less than two seasons and hire a coach who will bring passion, discipline, and wins back to the football program - a team that can compete for championships, not just struggle to stay at .500. Even if mediocrity on the field is ok with you, as fans, you should be ashamed at the rotation of players who are recruited and then leave before finishing out a season. Lack of continuity will never translate into success, just as trying to fix something that isn't broken will not yield positive results. The triple option works, and you can win football games without passing, but good luck winning games without a strong running game. I'll give Chris Hatcher credit for one thing, he did see the potential in Jason Foster and allowed him to showcase his talent while at the same time turning around the poor job Brian VanGorder did.
Then fire Sam Baker, who is responsible for the only two losing seasons at Georgia Southern since Erk arrived. Yes, Baker did not coach those two seasons, but he made the move to release two sound football coaches and replace them with interim head coaches who had zero ability to motivate.
