If ever there was a time the Eagles needed a win, it's now. They're coming home to a less-than-welcoming crowd, and memories of the last game at Paulson continue to haunt players and fans alike.

I believe our boys, our young men, can (literally) bring home the win. Here and there, we've seen glimpses of what this group can do. There are a few standouts amongst the team, and I realize that most fans are impatient. We want to win. Georgia Southern isn't the team to be trifled with.

I understand we all want to return to our winning ways, but you have to remember that for a few years there, we had a different coach every season. It's hard to come back from that.

And it's also hard to take a bunch of boys and turn them into men. Hatcher, while he is a good coach, isn't Erk. While he's only been here a few seasons, he's having to cope with losing starter after starter to academics and other things.

Give his team a chance.

It's like we were watching a trilogy. The first movie is great: successful, fun, entertaining for all. The second movie is more of a let-down when compared to the original: growing pains, plot thickening points and more characters. But the third movie is almost as good as the first: not quite like the original but a significant improvement over the second.

We're on our second movie with our football team.

And while we're watching the second movie just to get to the third movie, it's actually turning into a pretty good ride. Just be patient while they build up to the third movie in this saga about our beloved Eagles.

And when the third movie finally reaches its climax (wins, titles, etc.) you can look around and say you were there through the whole process.

What better story is there to tell?

I completey agree. We need to sit back and watch how the rest of the season unfolds. It might be a hard ride to endur, but in the end I believe we will see some good results. We have the talent, we just need to harness it. I plan to stay tuned for the third movie!!! Go Eagles!

Johnson also inherited a team that was stocked with players recruited to run the hambone. Hatcher was dealing with the aftermath of BVG's mess, not to mention the loss of scholarships and a total lack of discipline in the program. He also had to completely adjust his offense to match what talent was here. What an incredible coaching job he did his first year. I would like more success now, but I think we are headed in the right direction and once we get some experience in the 2-deep we are going to be back in the mix.

Hey Gus fan better bone up on your history. Paul Johnson left Erk after 1986...went to Hawaii and eventually to Navy as offensive coordinator before he ever came back to Statesboro. He inherited a team that I think went 4 win and 7 loses...and had an interim coach....and took that same team and went 8-3 with payoffs.

In comment to Eagle fans comment. The difference in Hatchers first year and Paul Johnsons is that Paul Johnson didn't come to Statesboro. He was Erk Russels offensive coordinator and took over Erks team when he started. Anyone should have been able to go to the playoffs with the players alone. Add to the fact that Johnson learned from the master only added to his abililty to make it to the playoffs.

The only problem I see is that the UT-chattanooga mocs went throught he same issues and are now making up for all the problems ( sames as the eagles) To get to teh national championship, the eagles will have to go through Chattanooga ,,,,, twice in one year...

PJ came to Statesboro and in his first season and was 8-3 and made it to the play offs. If Johnson can do then why can't Hatcher. Why, because Baker fired Sewak who got us to the playoffs. We are now nothing but a second rate program thanks to some poor decision making by the Athletic Administration.

I'd be content to sit and watch the 2nd and 3rd movie if we fire the guy who produced them. THEY DID NOT NEED TO BE MADE!
